Interview With The Artist Pierre Benoit

I would like to welcome you on my website for Music interview and the interview contain eight Questions .

Question One

How did you start making electronic music ?

Ans :- I come from the rock scene.

When I was 16, I played synth in a new wave band nammed « Midnight Romance », directly inspired by bands like Spandau Ballet, Soft Cell, Adam and the Ants.

Then two years later, I was bass player in blues and pub rock band.

I always been involved in music... I was an actor too, and for twenty years, I quit the music scene for a while.

But then I met my long time friend « The Hibou » (The Owl), a famous guitar and bass player in the dark and goth scene.

Then together we had two musical projects that had great times CORPS and Idoru. I was singer and lyricist.

Idoru was very experimental and all about sound design.

But from the very beginning, experimenting with synths, samplers, and whatever I can find has always been a huge part.

About ten years ago, as I was playing keys in the famous french steampunk band « Victor Sierra », I suddenly wanted to assume being alone on stage with only machines (as my name is Big Machine).

I wanted to fully explore electronic music by myself.

So here I am.

Question Two

What made you want to become a musician ?

Ans :- David Bowie led me to this, for sure.

I think I couldn’t live without music... I say I think because I’ve never try. lol

Question Three

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music ?

Ans :- Writing, reading, paranormal, UFO, cyberculture, photography, Japan, arts, reading books and watching documentaries about all these subjects.

Question Five

Who is your favorite artist or a person you look up to in the industry ?

Ans :- Gary Numan / Trent Reznor are my heroes .

Question Six

Do you think anyone can be a musical artist ?

Ans :- es... truly... I think it’s a lot of work and a little bit of talent, and I think that the past ten years showed us that work was more important than talent.

Question Seven

What is your main inspiration ?

Ans :- Most of the time, life gives me all the inspiration I need.

My wife, my daughter, my two grand child, my parents, my friends...

But also all I can see and read.

Philip K. Dick, Norman Spinrad, Lovecraft, french writer Maurice G. Dantec

I try to make intelligent music, music that would bring people to think and to dance a the same time... That is wjhat I’m doing actually.

All my previous works were dark ambient, kind of Lovecraft inspired.

Question Eight

What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician ?

Ans :- I’m starving lol !!!

I am deeply empathetic and kind, I am not a good theorist nor a virtuoso, but I think I have a certain feeling for moods and what makes you want to move.
