1- how did you start making electronic music .

ANS :- Originally, when I was younger, I had aspirations to enter the world of contemporary classical composition, but I became interested in synthesizer music when I learned that Isao Tomita, a judge at a contemporary classical composition competition I entered when I was 17, had nominated me for a prize. Incidentally, the piece I entered in this competition was a contemporary classical piece for solo Alto Recorder. At first, I composed with synthesizer and sequencer, but in 2007, I started composing with PC and DAW.

2- How did you discover your particular sound ?

ANS :- I have been playing the trumpet since I was a child. I have been making music in the style of special trumpet techniques and electronic music. I have moved in the direction of ambient and environmental music based on contemporary classical, jazz, and rock genres.

3- What inspires you and what makes you want to keep producing music ?

ANS :- When I was young, music was "something I wanted to do," but now it has become "For me, music has become an important job to do in life. I believe that my life in music is to create good music, put it out into the world, and have it appreciated.

4 - What are a few key lessons you’ve learned about producing that other aspiring musicians and producers could take advice from?

ANS :- I was eager to make the most of my connections when a filmmaker asked me, "I'm not interested in what you can do. I'm not interested in what you can do, only in what you've done. I am only interested in what you have done so far. This was something he told me when I had just started my professional activities. There are no achievements at the beginning of things. Even if you can make something good, it is very difficult to connect it to an achievement. It was a very frustrating experience, but it has led me to where I am today.

Before I became a musician, I was a company employee for 13 years and had nothing to do with the music industry. The things I learned while I was working in the corporate world have been put to good use in the music world.

5- How did you get into music and for how long have you been producing for ?

ANS :- I started music in elementary school because I was fascinated by the trumpet. I played in a brass band, so the basis of my music is classical music. I have been producing since around 2003, when I started making my own albums.

6- Are there any artists that you draw inspiration from — if so who and what sort of music ?

ANS :- John Cage Arvo Pärt Toshinori Kondo

7- Which approach did you follow

ANS :- From John Cage, I learned thought, philosophy, and way of life; from Arvo Pärt, style and musical purity; and from Toshinori Kondo, spirit.

8 - What’s next for you as an artist ?

ANS :- Until now, our main activity was live performance, but due to COVID19, we are no longer active in this area. Therefore, our main activity is now production using DAW. My next goal is to strongly hope that the music I create will be used in films and video works.

9 - What gear do you use in studio/live ?

ANS :- I used to use outboard gear, but now I use Logic pro X on my MacBook pro for both production and live performances. I use a MacBook pro with M2 chip and an RME fire Face UC audio interface. I use a Sennheiser e935 and a Neumann TLM102 microphone.

10- Why did you choose to make ambient music? Are you interested in expanding to other genres in the future ?

ANS :- My music is made with sounds that feel like Japanese calligraphy, where you can taste the margins, air, and scents. I found a very good connection between that feeling and ambient music. The genre I am interested in in the future is post-classical.

11- What are your biggest goals in terms of music as of right now

ANS :- I would like to further improve my skills by studying mixing and mastering, not to mention further developing my music work recordings.

12- Any advice for those looking to start producing electronic music ? Is there a particular setup or process that may help others ?

ANS:- You can work faster if you create your own template for smooth start-up of DAW project files.

If you are recording, be particular about your microphone, audio interface, and monitor speakers.

In the mixing stage, don't rely too much on EQ and use a reasonable gain.

Ozone 10 Advanced is recommended for mastering!

I am learning even more because I am not there yet!

13- Describe your sound for us. What do you want people to feel when they hear your music ?

ANS :- I use trumpet and DAW in my music, and I believe my music is influenced by contemporary classical and jazz. I would be happy if you can feel the scent of images, air, and natural beauty when you listen to my music!

14- Which 3 artists have influenced you the most growing up ?

ANS :- John Cage Arvo Pärt Meredith Monk

15- What outside of music inspires you to create ?

ANS :- It is an abstract painting, a poem, or a movie. When we look at beautiful visuals, sound is created.

Special Thanks To You Dear Tetsuroh Konishi
